WHAT CAT STYLE PART NUMBERS MEAN

  • A CAT style tooth can easily be identified by its part number. The key to this is knowing what certain digits of the part number mean.
  • The 4th and 5th digits are the most important. These indicate what Family the tooth belongs to.
  • The 6th digit will indicate the profile of the tooth. If there are letters following this digit, then these letters will indicate the profile of this tooth, NOT this 6th digit.
  • Finally the 7th, 8th, and sometimes 9th digits will also indicate the manufactures profile. The profile of the tooth is the level of penetration it is capable of and therefore determines the applications that the tooth is best suited for.

EXAMPLE 1 | Tooth part number is 1U3352WTL.

  • The 4th and 5th digits are “35” meaning this is the J350 series tooth family. (This “35” also represents the width of the tooth in inches.)
  • The 6th digit in this case has no meaning being as there are 3 letters following
  • The “WTL” in this case means the tooth is a TWIN TIGER Style.

EXAMPLE 2 | Tooth part number is 9W8452.

  • The 4th and 5th digits are “45” meaning this is the J450 series tooth family. The measurement across the back of the tooth will be 4.5”
  • The 6th digit is a “2” meaning this is the standard long style tooth
